MAC DERMOTT
Assistant General Counsel
Alice MacDermott is the principal University of Michigan attorney assigned to M-CARE and its wholly owned subsidiaries, M-CAID and the Michigan Health Insurance Company. As the principal attorney, she is responsible for regulatory and legal compliance and provides legal advice to M-CARE senior staff regarding compliance issues, contracts, transactions, litigation, benefits, tax, peer review, and credentialing.
Before joining the university’s Office of the General Counsel, she was assistant general counsel for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and associate general counsel for SelectCare, Inc., a managed care holding system.
Ms. MacDermott is a member of the Michigan State Bar Association, the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers, and the American Health Lawyers Association. She has a BA in political science/English from the University of Detroit Mercy, a JD from Boston College Law School and an MPA from University of Michigan-Dearborn.
