MARTHA BOONSTRA
Associate General Counsel
Martha Rabaut Boonstra, JD RN attended Michigan State University College of Law as a Charles H. King Scholar. During her attendance at MSU, Martha was the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Medicine and Law. After graduating summa cum laude, Martha clerked for the Honorable David W. McKeague on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. A long-time registered nurse, Martha practiced in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Neuro Intensive Care Unit and was the Coordinator of the Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan prior to attending law school.
Following her federal clerkship, Martha entered private practice at a major Michigan law firm and a national health law firm. Martha worked on a wide variety of health care related matters, including; general medical staff issues involving disciplinary actions and peer review, review and revision of medical staff bylaws, mid-level practitioner related issues and litigation arising from medical staff issues. Martha's practice included many other areas of health care including reimbursement disputes, excluded providers and Medicaid mental health programs.
