DONICA THOMAS VARNER
Assistant General Counsel
Ms. Varner recently joined the staff of the Office of
the Vice President and General Counsel after having
practiced employment and labor law on behalf of private
and public employers since 1994 and higher education
law since 2000. Ms. Varner provides advice regarding
employment and labor matters, Freedom of Information
Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, student
affairs and immigration issues. She litigates a variety
of lawsuits on behalf of the University in state and
federal courts with special emphasis on employment matters.
Ms. Varner coordinates the University's response to
subpoenas and other formal requests for information
not handled by the FOIA Officer.
