Welcome to the Office of the Vice President and General Counsel's
web page. We provide legal counsel to the University of Michigan,
which includes the Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint campuses.
To provide the best legal service, we assume a variety of roles
to meet the needs of our complex constituency.
We strive
to provide timely and responsible legal advice about the broad
array of legal issues that face a modern, public, research
University. We address existing and potential legal matters
in order to help the University achieve its mission. Where
appropriate, we provide strong, vigorous, and reasoned legal
advocacy. We also coordinate and supervise all legal services
for the University of Michigan, ensuring that they meet the
highest standards for our community.
